Abstract
The present paper deals with the status and
distribution of Gloriosa superba – a threatened plant in the forest area
of North Gujarat. Abundance of G. superba was recorded more in the Dense
Dry Deciduous Forest than other types. G. superba was predominantly found
on gravel substratum. The major threats to the plant in North Gujarat were
hedge clearing activities, soil erosion, mining activities and habitat
encroachments.
